Production Roles


1.       Boom Operator

The boom operator helps the production sound mixer on set. They help operate the boom microphone, by holding it in a long arm or dolly mounted platform. If other microphones are required on set the Boom Operators position them correctly around set to get the best quality sound. Boom Operators work during the production phase.  No credit can be found on IMDB.
Orin Beaton was the Boom Operator on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

2.       Camera Operator
 

The camera operator works with the camera in single & multi combinations. They produce pictures for directors. They work on location or in studios, wherever a camera is required. For them to complete their job correctly, they work of what is called a camera script. This camera script is usually developed during rehearsals. Camera Operators work during the production phase.

 
Adam Dale was the Camera Operator on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

3.       Composer
 

The composer is responsible for writing and playing music for the Films soundtrack. They work with the Producer and Director to make sure their piece matches the scene it was written for. They send m2any demos to the company while developing the soundtrack, which aren’t paid for.

The composer works during the Post-Production phase.

Alexandre Desplat was the Composer on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.


4.       Director

The Director is the “driving force” in all stages of production. He acts a crucial link between the production and creative teams. They are responsible for translating the films script onto the screen. Directors tasks include casting, script editing and shot compositing.

Eduardo Serra was the Director on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.


5.       Editor

Editors are responsible for assembling the best raw footage into a finished product. They are regarded by some as the most important job in creating a film. They have the ability to manipulate raw footage, sound, and graphics to make the end product more enjoyable. The editor works during post production.


The editor on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was Mark Day.

6.       Makeup Artist

Makeup artists work during the production phase. They are responsible for creating the look of characters, as some makeup can get quite complex – such as latex masks. However, it can also be very simple such as just a brush of foundation. They work with the Director to make sure the make up designs match up to their requirements.


Amanda Burns was a Makeup Artist on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
